Deck overview

This deck is a mono-green Hydra tribal and +1/+1 counters deck commanded by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The strategy ramps aggressively during the early turns to cast Gargos ahead of curve on turn 4. Once Gargos resolves, its passive ability reduces the cost of all Hydra spells by {4}, enabling explosive turns where massive creatures enter for minimal mana. The deck amplifies these threats using counter multipliers like Branching Evolution, Doubling Season, and The Earth Crystal, as well as combat power doublers like Unnatural Growth. Gargos doubles as a removal engine: whenever a friendly creature is targeted by any spell, Gargos fights an opposing creature, turning 1-mana protection spells into instant-speed removal. With massive trample power, draw engines tied to creature power, and resilient protection, the deck systematically overruns opponents through dominant combat damage by turn 7.
