Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir tempo and historic Voltron strategy built around Basim Ibn Ishaq. The primary game plan deploys Basim on Turn 2, followed by a continuous stream of cheap artifacts, Sagas, and legendary permanents. Each historic spell triggers Basim to draw a card and grant unblockability, steadily growing his power with +1/+1 counters upon dealing combat damage. To accelerate the clock, the deck supplements Basim with potent equipment such as Blackblade Reforged, Cranial Plating, and Fireshrieker, alongside value-generating Sagas like Death in Heaven and Phyrexian Scriptures. An extensive, low-cost reactive interaction suite featuring counterspells and instant removal protects the commander and disrupts opponent strategies. While the deck boasts high card draw consistency and strong stack interaction, its win condition is strictly single-target combat damage. Lacking tutors, extra combats, or combo finishes, it must eliminate opponents sequentially over several turn cycles.
