Deck overview

This deck is a mono-green Hydra tribal stompy strategy led by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The game plan focuses on deploying 1-2 CMC mana acceleration on early turns to cast Gargos on Turn 4. Once in play, Gargos reduces the casting cost of all Hydra spells by {4}, enabling explosive turns where massive threats like Kalonian Hydra, Voracious Hydra, and Genesis Hydra enter for minimal mana. Gargos also provides built-in removal by fighting opposing creatures whenever any friendly creature is targeted by a spell. This turns inexpensive protection spells like Tamiyo's Safekeeping and Snakeskin Veil into two-for-one removal blowouts. The deck presents a must-answer lethal board on Turn 5 and closes the game on Turn 7 through overwhelming combat damage powered by Overwhelming Stampede, Unnatural Growth, and massive counter multiplication.
