Deck overview

This Izzet deck transforms The Emperor of Palamecia into The Lord Master of Hell to incinerate the table with graveyard-scaled noncombat burn. In the early game, the commander acts as an on-curve mana dork that ramps into 4-mana noncreature spells like Big Score and Artist's Talent. Each high-mana spell adds +1/+1 counters to the Emperor until three counters trigger its transformation. Massive self-mill spells such as Traumatize and Cut Your Losses quickly load 20 or more instants and sorceries into the graveyard. When The Lord Master of Hell attacks, its Starfall ability deals noncombat damage equal to the graveyard count to each opponent simultaneously. Damage amplifiers like The Rollercrusher Ride and extra combat spells such as Seize the Day rapidly close out the game, while a dense suite of 1-mana counterspells and shroud effects shields the engine.
