This deck is a competitive Gruul Stax Combo build helmed by Tovolar, Dire Overlord // Tovolar, the Midnight Scourge. The strategy slows down fast competitive tables using early, asymmetric stax pieces like Blood Moon, Collector Ouphe, Null Rod, and Stranglehold. These locks cripple opposing artifact mana, complex multicolor mana bases, and library searches. Meanwhile, Tovolar and low-cost aggressive creatures draw extra cards on combat damage to steadily build resources. Once opponents are constrained, the deck converts its card advantage and dense creature tutor suite into compact, game-ending two-card combos.
