Deck overview

Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive commands a mono-blue combat tempo deck that weaponizes low-power and low-toughness creatures into an unstoppable draw engine. By granting unblockability to creatures with power or toughness 1 or less, Tetsuko allows small utility creatures like Shoreline Looter and Ghostly Pilferer to consistently trigger combat damage effects. The deck compounds this advantage through Coastal Piracy variants, drawing multiple cards each turn. As cards accumulate in hand, the deck pivots into decisive win conditions including Psychosis Crawler for table-wide life drain, Triskaidekaphile for an exact hand-size upkeep victory, and Twenty-Toed Toad for massive hand-size combat triggers. A compact suite of efficient counterspells, bounce spells, and flash enablers protects key pieces and dictates tempo. While vulnerable to early board sweepers and targeted removal, the deck recovers quickly by maintaining noncreature draw engines and fielding redundant evasive attackers.
