Deck overview

This is an Izzet spellslinger deck with a light Otter tribal subtheme, helmed by Alania, Divergent Storm. The commander's defining ability copies the first instant, the first sorcery, and the first Otter spell you cast each turn (in exchange for an opponent drawing a card), effectively tripling your spell count per turn cycle. The deck chains cheap instants and sorceries through a dense cost-reduction package - Goblin Electromancer, Stormcatch Mentor, Mindsplice Apparatus, Jace's Sanctum, and Dirgur Focusmage - while generating value through magecraft payoffs like Archmage Emeritus and Veyran, Voice of Duality. It wins primarily by storming off with Thousand-Year Storm alongside the repeatable pings of Fiery Inscription and Coruscation Mage, or by swinging with Stormsplitter tokens and Veyran-buffed Otters. A deep suite of secondary copy effects (Kitsa, Otterball Elite, Pyromancer's Goggles, Galvanic Iteration, Doublecast, Repeated Reverberation) and a single copyable Time Warp round out the plan.
