Deck overview

This mono-black deck is built around Kain, Traitorous Dragoon, using forced combat, donation mechanics, and life-drain engines to control the table. Kain flies over defenses to deal combat damage, rewarding you with fresh cards and Treasure tokens before passing to an opponent. The deck mitigates the downside of giving away your commander by equipping Assault Suit, reclaiming control with Homeward Path, or using goad auras like Ghoulish Impetus and Bloodthirsty Blade to direct attacks away from you. A dense suite of 1-mana reanimation instants ensures that if an opponent attempts to destroy Kain, he returns immediately to your side of the battlefield. The massive influx of cards and tokens fuels lethal payoffs including Mirkwood Bats, Psychosis Crawler, and large Exsanguinate finishes backed by Crypt Ghast.
