Deck overview

This mono-black deck is led by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, weaponizing symmetrical draw effects into asymmetric life drain. The primary game plan accelerates into Sheoldred on Turn 4, followed immediately by forced-draw and wheel artifacts such as Teferi's Puzzle Box or Howling Mine. These permanents force opponents to lose massive amounts of life during their draw steps while padding your own life buffer. Supported by black's premium tutors, the deck smoothly accesses redundant win conditions, including the compact infinite drain combos of Exquisite Blood with Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, alongside table-ending bombs like Peer into the Abyss. While the deck features outstanding creature removal and board wipes, its mono-black identity leaves it vulnerable to stack interaction, artifact removal, and targeted enchantment hate.
