Deck overview

This Heartless Hidetsugu deck is a mono-red group-slug archetype designed to halve and double life totals for sudden table-wide eliminations. The primary strategy leverages Hidetsugu's tap ability alongside damage multipliers such as Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Dictate of the Twin Gods, Furnace of Rath, and Twinflame Tyrant. When a multiplier is active, a single tap of Hidetsugu deals 40 damage to any player at 40 life, ending the game on the spot. To prevent self-inflicted defeat from symmetric damage doublers, the deck integrates lifelink equipment like Basilisk Collar and Shadowspear, as well as damage replacement via Fortune Thief. Operating with a modest mana curve of basic Mountains, the deck assembles its core pieces around Turn 5–6 and seeks to close the game immediately in zero response cycles once active. However, it exhibits notable vulnerability to targeted creature removal, countermagic, and enchantment destruction, while offering minimal reactive disruption of its own.
