Deck overview

This is an Izzet spellslinger/impulse-draw deck built around Alania, Divergent Storm. The game plan is to chain cheap instants and sorceries, copy the first of each type plus the first Otter spell each turn, and convert every cast into cards, mana, and damage. A core of Otters and Wizards - Archmage of Runes, Harnesser of Storms, Niv-Mizzet, Visionary, and Neera, Wild Mage - keeps the chain running, while Thousand-Year Storm, Epic Experiment, and Omniscience provide the explosive late-game turns. Wins generally come from a critical-mass turn: copied spells triggering Firebrand Archer, Gandalf, Goblins' Bane, and Caldera Pyremaw to burn the table, supplemented by flying beaters like Sprite Dragon and Balmor, Battlemage Captain. It is a value-first deck that intends to survive into the midgame, bury opponents in copied spells, and finish in one large storm turn.
