Deck overview

This deck uses Atraxa, Praetors' Voice as a repeatable proliferate engine. Its normal plan is to give each opponent an initial poison counter with Prologue to Phyresis, Ichor Rats, Infectious Inquiry, or Vraska's Fall, then use Atraxa, Praetors' Voice and supporting proliferate cards to increase those counters. Toxic and infect creatures provide a combat-based backup, while cards such as Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa, Vishgraz, the Doomhive, and Venerated Rotpriest add pressure. The deck has respectable creature and permanent interaction, but its mana base contains many tapped lands and its protection is limited. The primary no-interruption clock is slow: a turn-7 operational setup reaches nine poison counters around turn 12 and wins at the turn-13 end step if Atraxa, Praetors' Voice survives. The deck is therefore a thematic, value-oriented poison deck rather than a fast combo or competitive control deck.
