Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul aggro strategy focused on Vehicles and extra combat phases, led by Balthier and Fran. The commander gives all Vehicles +1/+1, reach, and vigilance, while granting an additional combat phase for {1}{R}{G} whenever a Vehicle it crewed attacks during the first combat. Because Balthier's static ability gives Vehicles vigilance, the crewed Vehicle remains untapped after attacking, allowing it to attack again during the extra combat phase. The 99 supports this core loop with high-stat Vehicles, aggressive artifact payoffs, and redundant extra-combat enablers like Port Razer, Combat Celebrant, and Scourge of the Throne. Alternate engines like Bello, Bard of the Brambles bypass crew costs entirely by animating large Vehicles into indestructible attackers. While the deck generates strong combat pressure and dodges sorcery-speed creature wipes with uncrewed Vehicles, it has minimal instant-speed interaction and stack protection, leaving it vulnerable to well-timed removal on the commander before combat.
