Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Voltron and midrange strategy built around Phage the Untouchable. Because Phage's enter-the-battlefield trigger causes an instant loss if cast from any zone other than the hand, the entire primary game plan centers on fetching and deploying specific artifacts—specifically Campfire and Netherborn Altar—to move Phage into hand before casting her. Once in hand, the deck leverages high-mana ramp and utility equipment to grant Phage haste and evasion, eliminating opponents one by one through her lethal combat trigger. In games where Phage is disrupted or inaccessible, the deck shifts to a standard black midrange beatdown plan utilizing heavy hitters such as Grave Titan, Abhorrent Overlord, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. The interaction suite is heavily focused on creature removal, complemented by sweepers to keep the board clear for Phage attacks.
