Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Aristocrats and Reanimator strategy commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on assembling sacrifice outlets, recurring fodder, and life-drain engines during the early turns before leveraging big mana from Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to cast game-ending threats. Key payoffs like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Massacre Wurm, and Syr Konrad, the Grim swing life totals drastically, while Avacyn acts as a high-end value engine that returns all nontoken creatures that died each turn. With dense creature removal, mass sweepers, and potent reanimation spells such as Victimize and Rise of the Dark Realms, the deck outlasts opponents through sustained attrition and unblockable life drain. While highly resilient to creature destruction and capable of rapid recovery, the deck has minimal protection against noncreature permanents and graveyard exile.
