Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses Meren of Clan Nel Toth to build a resilient graveyard value engine. The deck ramps and mills early creatures into the graveyard, casting Meren on turn 4 to begin recurring sacrifice fodder every end step. By turn 5, it establishes proactive locks such as recurring Spore Frog to blank combat damage and using Savra, Queen of the Golgari or Archon of Cruelty to strip opposing boards. On turn 6, the deck initiates its winning sequence by looping high-impact drain creatures like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and using Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord alongside aristocrat drainers like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat. Across two opponent response cycles, repeated life drain eliminates all three opponents on turn 8. While vulnerable to graveyard hate and lacking stack countermagic, the deck features redundant tutors, strong recovery tools, and resilient creature engines that maintain overwhelming board advantage.
