Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses Maha, Its Feathers Night to reduce the base toughness of all opposing creatures to 1. By pairing Maha with continuous damage or -1/-1 effects such as Kaervek, the Spiteful, Pestilence, and Noxious Field, the deck achieves a devastating, asymmetric creature wipe that locks opponents out of creature-based strategies entirely. Strong mono-black ramp featuring rituals, Cabal Coffers, and Crypt Ghast accelerates Maha onto the battlefield by Turn 4 or 5. Once the board is locked down, draw engines like Massacre Girl, Known Killer and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician refill your hand while Maha applies flying commander damage. The game finishes through repeated commander attacks or a massive Exsanguinate / Rise of the Dark Realms. While the deck has an oppressive lock against creature decks, it remains susceptible to artifact strategies, mass noncreature removal, and the clock required to eliminate three separate opponents.
