Deck overview

This Sultai deck is commanded by Zaxara, the Exemplary and focuses on maximizing the value of X-cost spells and +1/+1 counter synergies. The early game establishes colored mana through dorks and lands, aiming to resolve Zaxara by Turn 4. Once assembled, Zaxara acts as both a 2-mana accelerator and an army-in-a-can, generating large Hydra tokens whenever an X-spell is cast. Mid-game turns scale exponentially through force multipliers like Unbound Flourishing, Doubling Season, and Primal Vigor, allowing creatures like Goldvein Hydra, Primordial Hydra, and Primo, the Unbounded to dominate the board. The deck protects its substantial board commitments with efficient mass-protection instants such as Heroic Intervention and Mutational Advantage. While vulnerable to mass exile and lacking stack interaction, the deck closes games around Turn 8 through overwhelming combat damage, Walking Ballista reach, or a decisive Torment of Hailfire.
