Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs Skanos Dragonheart with the Background Haunted One to execute a Dragon stompy and reanimation strategy. The deck ramps aggressively on the first three turns to assemble both commanders by Turn 4. When Skanos taps to attack or activates utility lands like Springleaf Drum, Holdout Settlement, or Survivors' Encampment, Haunted One gives all Dragons +2/+0 and undying until end of turn. Skanos simultaneously grows to enormous power by checking the highest power among other Dragons on the field or in the graveyard, such as Earthquake Dragon or Old Gnawbone. Undying protects the Dragon brood from combat trades and destroy sweepers, while also fueling sacrifice engines like Greater Good and The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride for massive card draw. The deck finishes games through rapid commander damage eliminations, asymmetric wipes via Crux of Fate, and overrun finishes with Finale of Devastation.
