Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Liliana, Heretical Healer, combining classic Zombie tribal synergies, reanimation, and aristocratic drain. The game plan revolves around deploying inexpensive creatures, triggering Liliana's transformation into Liliana, Defiant Necromancer, and using her abilities alongside cards like Waste Not to wear down opposing hands. In the mid-to-late game, the deck transitions from incremental attrition to lethal burst damage by recurring high-impact creatures like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Massacre Wurm, or resolving massive mass-reanimation spells like Haunting Voyage and Army of the Damned. With an extremely high land count of 52 lands, the deck operates with absolute land-drop consistency but lacks fast artifact mana acceleration, playing strictly on curve. While vulnerable to targeted graveyard hate and lacking noncreature removal, it provides resilient recursive threats and steady life-drain pressure.
