Deck overview

Helmed by Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, this Dimir control deck blends mill, wheel attrition, and graveyard theft into a lethal combo-control strategy. The primary win line centers on the compact two-card infinite combo of Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank. Once Ascension accumulates three quest counters, any life loss or card milled triggers a deterministic chain reaction that drains each opponent's life total to zero while completely milling their libraries. The deck supports this game plan with potent asymmetric disruption, using Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir to lock opponents out of instant-speed interaction and Notion Thief to turn symmetrical wheels like Windfall into devastating one-sided hand destruction. Robust secondary plans featuring Consuming Aberration, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and mass reanimation ensure the deck maintains lethal pressure if the primary combo is contested.
