Deck overview

This mono-black Aristocrats deck is helmed by Braids, Arisen Nightmare, leveraging expendable permanents to build an insurmountable card and resource advantage. In the early turns, the deck sets up recursive creatures and token generators such as Bitterblossom, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, and Forsaken Miner. Dropping Braids on Turn 3 converts these disposable pieces into steady card draw and incremental life loss for opponents. Mid-game turns transition into suffocating board control through continuous edicts like Grave Pact, Plaguecrafter, and Accursed Marauder, which systematically strip opposing creature boards. The deck accelerates opponent life loss using damage multipliers like Bloodletter of Aclazotz and drain engines like Ayara, First of Locthwain and Bastion of Remembrance. Games are closed out through a massive Gray Merchant of Asphodel devotion swing, a Bolas's Citadel flurry, or a two-card infinite life-drain loop with Bloodthirsty Conqueror and Enduring Tenacity.
