Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Angel tribal and reanimator strategy piloted by Shilgengar, Sire of Famine. The early game focuses on deploying efficient lifegain and tribal enablers like Giada, Font of Hope, Bishop of Wings, and Righteous Valkyrie while hitting land drops and mana rocks. In the midgame, Shilgengar enters as a sacrifice outlet and token generator, converting high-toughness Angels into Blood tokens. These Blood tokens filter cards into the graveyard while fueling Shilgengar's mass reanimation ability to resurrect the entire graveyard. Niche synergies like Thrull Parasite and Scholar of New Horizons remove the resulting finality counters, enabling repeated recursion. The deck closes games through overwhelming aerial combat backed by legendary threats like Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Serra's Emissary, supplemented by non-combat drain from Mirkwood Bats. While resilient and capable of explosive swings, the deck relies on combat damage across multiple turn cycles to eliminate the table.
