Deck overview

This Golgari deck is a thematic Spider tribal strategy built around Shelob, Child of Ungoliant. The early game focuses on deploying mana ramp and high-toughness reach creatures to create an impenetrable defensive web against opposing attacks. Once Shelob enters on Turn 5, she grants all Spiders deathtouch and ward {2}, transforming ordinary utility creatures into lethal combatants. The deck excels at board control and asymmetric attrition: whenever an opposing creature dies after taking damage from a Spider, Shelob steals it as a Food artifact token. Equipping Spiders with Viridian Longbow or Thornbite Staff lets you pick off opposing commanders and steal their abilities at instant speed. The deck finishes games through Shelob commander damage, wide arachnid token swarms from Spider Spawning and Arasta of the Endless Web, poison pressure from Fynn, the Fangbearer, or group drain from Rotwidow Pack. While vulnerable to mass exile sweepers, it dominates creature-based tables.
