Smaug, the Unassessably Wealthy by user5871289

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is helmed by Smaug the Impenetrable, an indestructible Dragon that creates Treasure tokens whenever it is dealt noncombat damage. The primary game plan involves generating an overwhelming number of Treasure tokens through self-damage spells aimed at the commander, then converting those tokens into a decisive victory via burn payoffs, life-drain, or the alternate win condition Revel in Riches. The deck is packed with Treasure synergies (Xorn, Goldspan Dragon), token multipliers, and powerful value engines like Magda, Brazen Outlaw and Professional Face-Breaker. It aims to assemble a critical mass of tokens and then cash out with Crackle with Power, Exsanguinate, or Alchemist's Talent's level-3 ability. Secondary wins include combat damage from multiple Dragons and Bolas's Citadel shenanigans. The deck's resilience comes from multiple win paths, though it is moderately dependent on the commander for the most explosive treasure generation.
