Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control and token swarm strategy led by Elminster. The main game plan uses cheap scry spells and cantrips—including Preordain, Opt, and Mystic Speculation—to discount high-cost instant and sorcery spells through Elminster's static ability. Meanwhile, Elminster's loyalty abilities generate card advantage and turn high-mana-value spells into large swarms of 1/1 flying Faerie Dragon tokens. Flying lords such as Empyrean Eagle, Kangee, Sky Warden, and Denzilore Fatehold buff these token armies into lethal airborne threats. The deck controls the game with efficient single-target removal, flexible counterspells, and one-sided sweepers like Hour of Reckoning and Cyclonic Rift. Alternate win paths include Approach of the Second Sun and massive token spells like Storm Herd. While the deck features strong card selection and aerial finishing power, it requires careful defense of Elminster against opposing combat attacks.
