Deck overview

This deck centers on Obeka, Splitter of Seconds, turning combat damage into extra upkeep steps to trigger powerful enchantments and creatures. The early game focuses on ramping through 2-CMC rocks to cast Obeka on Turn 3 or 4, followed by granting her evasion through equipment such as Brotherhood Regalia or Whispersilk Cloak. Once Obeka connects, she yields multiple upkeeps immediately following combat, triggering Monarch Courts like Court of Ambition and Court of Ire, as well as engines like Descent into Avernus and Bonehoard Dracosaur. This sudden burst of triggers rapidly depletes opposing life totals and empties their hands. While the deck boasts strong reactive interaction like Mana Drain and Cyclonic Rift, its game plan is inherently centered around its commander connecting in combat. Without Obeka on the battlefield, the deck transitions into a slower, traditional Grixis control build that relies on standard upkeep pacing.
