Deck overview

Merieke Ri Berit is the engine of an Esper theft-control build. The deck aims to fall behind early, then use Merieke with untap effects (Ioreth, Magewright's Stone, Teardrop Kami) to repeatedly steal or destroy opposing creatures. Secondary paths are Nihiloor as a hidden commander, draining opponents whenever a stolen creature attacks, and Ashiok/Connive//Concoct to recurse the best graveyard threats. The win is a slow grind: clear the board, borrow the biggest threats, and accrue card advantage until the table lacks answers. There is no fast mana or combo, and 12 tapped lands push the deck's clock deep into the late game.
