Deck overview

This deck is a classic Dimir tempo-burn strategy led by Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow. The primary game plan deploys a critical mass of 0- and 1-mana evasive creatures on Turn 1 to enable Commander Ninjutsu on Turn 2. Because Ninjutsu is an activated ability that bypasses both standard countermagic and the commander tax, Yuriko establishes an immediate, resilient engine that draws cards while burning all opponents simultaneously. The deck weaponizes high-mana-value spells featuring alternate casting costs or delve—such as Draco, Shadow of Mortality, Temporal Trespass, and Dig Through Time—to deal massive bursts of damage across the table. Cantrips, topdeck manipulation spells like Brainstorm and Lim-Dûl's Vault, and secondary Ninjas compound this advantage rapidly. Backed by cheap 1- to 2-mana counterspells and efficient creature removal, the deck protects its aggressive engine and closes out games on Turn 5 with symmetric table-wide life loss.
