Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Mono-Black Stax and Attrition engine built around Tergrid, God of Fright. The primary strategy focuses on deploying Tergrid alongside symmetric discard spells and sacrifice edicts such as Dark Deal, Pox, Mindslicer, and Memory Jar. By forcing opponents to discard cards and sacrifice permanents, Tergrid's triggered ability steals those cards directly onto your battlefield, turning symmetrical destruction into an insurmountable asymmetric advantage. The deck reinforces this plan with oppressive resource-denial pieces including Contamination, Oppression, Smokestack, and Braids, Cabal Minion to shut off mana generation and drain opposing resources. Victory is achieved through overwhelming combat damage with stolen creatures, repeated life drain from Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or massive mana sink sorceries like Torment of Hailfire fueled by Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.
