Deck overview

This mono-black deck revolves around Tergrid, God of Fright, turning symmetric discard and sacrifice effects into decisive, game-winning resource theft. The game plan accelerates mana through artifacts and rituals into a Turn 4 or 5 Tergrid deployment, immediately followed by mass discard spells such as Dark Deal or sacrifice triggers like Plaguecrafter and Mindslicer. When these resolve, Tergrid steals all discarded and sacrificed nontoken permanents, stripping opponents of hands and boards while flooding your side of the battlefield. The deck breaks parity under stax pieces like Oppression and Painful Quandary, locking opponents out of the game while accumulating insurmountable mana and card advantage. Games are closed out either through overwhelming combat damage with stolen creatures, massive life drain via Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or an unanswerable Torment of Hailfire powered by Cabal Coffers.
