Deck overview

This Rakdos deck turns every phase of the game into a painful resource tax under Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy pairs cheap, symmetric pingers like Roiling Vortex and Razorkin Needlehead with the commander's ability to draw cards and grow whenever an opponent loses life on their turn. As opponents take damage from normal play, Valgavoth refills your hand and transforms into a massive flying threat. The mid-game escalates through punishing wheel effects like Dark Deal and Wheel of Misfortune, turning opponent hand refreshes into lethal damage bursts with Underworld Dreams, Fate Unraveler, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. A solid suite of low-cost reanimation spells and protective equipment keeps your threats resilient against interaction. The deck does not rely on infinite combos; instead, it rapidly drains the entire table simultaneously through compounding group slug attrition, closing games with combat swings, Chandra's Ignition, or an Archfiend of Despair life total halving.
