Format: Commander

Commander: Braids, Arisen Nightmare

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Braids, Arisen Nightmare is a mono-black sacrifice/attrition deck. The commander is the main engine: each end step she turns a token or spare permanent into either a forced sacrifice or damage plus card draw. The deck feeds her with Bitterblossom, Ophiomancer, and Jadar, then converts deaths into value with Grave Pact, Ayara, Yawgmoth, The Meathook Massacre, and Bloodchief Ascension. Secondary paths are graveyard reanimation (Buried Alive, Animate Dead, Sheoldred, Dread Return) and a big-mana Torment of Hailfire finish powered by Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast. There is no true hidden commander; Sheoldred, Tergrid, and Sephiroth are strong legendary value pieces rather than a second game plan.
