Deck overview

This competitive Izzet deck uses Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph for early board control and chip damage while assembling fast game-winning combos. The primary strategy races toward an Underworld Breach storm loop alongside Brain Freeze and Lion's Eye Diamond to mill the table out on Turn 3. The deck accelerates using format-staple 0-drop mana rocks and filters rapidly with low-cost cantrips and wheels like Timetwister and Wheel of Fortune. Ghyrson Starn weaponizes one-damage pingers like Razorkin Needlehead and Coruscation Mage into three-damage removal and life pressure. A fully independent backup win condition combines Niv-Mizzet, Parun with Curiosity effects to draw the library and burn opponents out. The deck defends its win attempts with a dense suite of free counterspells including Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, and Force of Will.
