Deck overview

This Dimir deck combines a controlling theft-and-mill shell with a compact, deterministic combo finish. Commanded by Garland, Royal Kidnapper, the deck introduces the monarch mechanic to trigger creature theft and scale up opposing threats under your control. While it grinds out card advantage using Rhystic Study, Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor, and clone effects like Phyrexian Metamorph and Spark Double, its primary win condition is the two-card infinite combo of Duskmantle Guildmage and Mindcrank. Supported by Shred Memory and high-velocity draw engines, the deck deploys both combo pieces by Turn 5 and closes the game on Turn 6 by triggering an instant-speed life-loss and mill loop that drains the table simultaneously. Strong defensive interaction, including Force of Will, Force of Negation, and Cyclonic Rift, shields the combo, while backup lines like Rise of the Dark Realms provide resilience against prolonged games.
