Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Baron Helmut Zemo to filter cards through connive and cheat massive, pip-heavy black permanents directly into play via his boast ability. The primary strategy uses Buried Alive on Turn 4 to assemble 15 black mana symbols in the graveyard using Doomsday Excruciator, Zodiark, Umbral God, and Phyrexian Obliterator. Attacking with Zemo on Turn 5 casts all three cards for zero mana, dismantling opposing libraries, halving creature boards, and presenting overwhelming combat threats. In addition to the commander line, the deck features strong standalone reanimation packages with Living Death, Breach the Multiverse, and Rise of the Dark Realms. Mana acceleration from Cabal Coffers, Crypt of Agadeem, and Songs of the Damned ensures the deck can hardcast high-cost threats if disrupted. While vulnerable to early graveyard hate and targeted removal, its proactive denial and layered threats create sustained late-game pressure.
