Deck overview

This Dimir deck is built around Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver as a high-synergy Zombie Aristocrats engine that converts death triggers into card advantage, decayed tokens, and game-ending combos. The core strategy revolves around establishing sacrificial velocity using recursive creatures like Gravecrawler and token generators such as Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia or Poppet Stitcher. Mana acceleration through artifacts and rituals powers out Wilhelt and critical value engines by Turn 4. From there, the deck transitions into lethal loops via Phyrexian Altar paired with drain payoffs including Diregraf Captain, Plague Belcher, and Bastion of Remembrance. It also includes the compact Thassa's Oracle and Demonic Consultation alternate win condition. A robust interaction suite with free interaction like Deadly Rollick and Force of Negation protects the combo turn. However, the 24 basic lands prevent Tainted Pact from functioning as a library-exile outlet, cementing the deck as a high-power synergy build rather than a fully optimized competitive list.
