Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black control and big-mana strategy piloted by Valgavoth, Terror Eater. It focuses on controlling the battlefield through asymmetric edicts and continuous sacrifice effects while developing explosive mana acceleration using Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. During early turns, the deck deploys incremental draw engines like Unholy Annex // Ritual Chamber and Phyrexian Arena alongside removal to suppress aggressive starts. In the mid-game, it pivots to heavy attrition pieces like Archfiend of Depravity and Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal. Its primary win condition involves deploying Valgavoth, Terror Eater on Turn 6, whose punishing three-permanent ward and graveyard-stealing ability generate overwhelming card and board advantage. Alternatively, the deck can execute a lethal Torment of Hailfire or assemble the infinite life-drain loop of Exquisite Blood and Enduring Tenacity. While highly resilient against creature strategies, it relies heavily on natural draws to find specific finishers and lacks stack interaction.
