Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses Grismold, the Dreadsower to convert symmetric token creation into rapid commander scaling and lethal trampling combat damage. The primary game plan accelerates Grismold onto the battlefield on Turn 3, followed by a continuous token-wiping effect like Illness in the Ranks or Virulent Plague on Turn 4. Because Grismold creates 1/1 Plant tokens for every player on each end step, these tokens die immediately to state-based toughness reduction, feeding Grismold four +1/+1 counters every turn rotation. By Turn 5, Grismold attacks as an 8/8 or larger trampler, threatening to eliminate opponents in sequential combat steps. The deck supports this aggressive clock with generous gift cards like Hunted Troll and Sylvan Offering, while using aristocrat triggers like Nadier's Nightblade and Falkenrath Noble for reach. While it lacks dense protection and fast tutors, its high synergy and redundant token-hate pieces deliver a resilient, high-pressure mid-game clock.
