Betor, The Undying Bastion by okrok

Format: Commander

Commander: Betor, Kin to All

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Betor, Kin to All leads an Abzan toughness-matters fortress deck. The plan is to assemble cheap walls and ramp, turn toughness into a weapon through Doran, the Siege Tower, Assault Formation, Bedrock Tortoise, and Felothar the Steadfast, and eventually cross Betor's 40-toughness threshold to drain every opponent for half their life at each end step. Lifegain from Trostani, Selesnya's Voice, Angelic Chorus, Wall of Reverence, and Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper buys the time needed to reach that threshold. High-toughness finishers such as Canopy Gargantuan, Towering Titan, Ancient Adamantoise, and The Walls of Ba Sing Se close games through combat or feed huge Last March of the Ents refills. The deck also has a one-shot kill package using Tree of Perdition and sacrifice outlets. It is durable and grindy, but slow, and it lacks tutors and counterspells.
