Deck overview

This Orzhov Midrange deck is commanded by Athreos, Shroud-Veiled, leveraging coin counters, sacrifice outlets, and reanimation to grind opponents out through relentless attrition and theft. The deck accelerates in early turns with 2-mana artifacts, establishing Athreos by Turn 5. On subsequent turns, it uses sacrifice outlets like Ashnod's Altar alongside edicts such as Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder to repeatedly clear opposing boards while returning key creatures under your control. The indestructible nature of Athreos makes the engine remarkably durable against standard sweepers like Wrath of God and Damn. Win conditions include reanimating massive boards with Breach the Multiverse, draining life with recurring Gray Merchant of Asphodel triggers, or attacking with stolen threats. While the deck lacks fast mana and unconditional tutors, its deep functional redundancy and powerful removal suite allow it to consistently control the game and outvalue the table.
