Deck overview

This is a toughness-matters Abzan deck helmed by Doran, Besieged by Time. The core plan is to deploy high-toughness, low-power creatures and convert their toughness into damage through Doran and a redundant suite of enablers: Assault Formation, Bedrock Tortoise, Felothar the Steadfast, Huatli, the Sun's Heart, and Walking Bulwark. Doran's attack/block trigger pumps each creature by its power-toughness differential, while his cost reduction makes big-butted creatures cheaper to cast. The deck wins primarily through combat, accelerated by Unnatural Growth doubling power and toughness each combat, and closes games with the Betor, Kin to All + Bloodletter of Aclazotz life-loss finisher once total toughness reaches 40. Tree of Perdition offers life-total manipulation, and Last March of the Ents provides massive draw and a way to cheat creatures into play. The deck is a midrange value engine that grinds into an overwhelming board.
