Deck overview

This mono-black attrition deck uses Mai, Scornful Striker as an early, persistent tax piece to punish opponents for casting noncreature spells. It layers complementary group-slug permanents that deal steady damage whenever opponents draw cards, play lands, or pass upkeeps. The deck converts this steady life loss into game-ending bursts using devotion payoffs like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, death triggers from Kokusho, the Evening Star and Syr Konrad, the Grim, and reanimation spells. While it lacks fast combo finishes and stack countermagic, its high density of interchangeable drain pieces creates compounding pressure that steadily reduces all three opponents' life totals simultaneously.
