Deck overview

This deck is an Esper spellslinger and attrition deck commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The strategy focuses on chaining noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater to drain opponents, preserve your life total, and draw cards at each end step. Low-cost mana rocks establish early mana velocity, enabling Y'shtola to enter the battlefield safely on Turn 4. From Turn 5 onward, the deck extracts compounding value from spell casts using support creatures like Archmage Emeritus, Hermes, Overseer of Elpis, and Fandaniel, Telophoroi Ascian to build wide token armies and chip away at opposing life totals. A robust suite of Esper removal spells such as Void Rend, Swords to Plowshares, and Cleansing Nova controls the board, while defensive enchantments like Propaganda and Authority of the Consuls slow incoming attacks. The deck wins in the late game through cumulative burn, token swarms, or a large Exsanguinate.
