Deck overview

This deck executes a focused Mono-Green Stompy strategy commanded by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The game plan accelerates through land-based ramp and enchantments during turns 1 to 3, deploying Gargos on turn 4 or 5. Gargos serves two vital functions: reducing the cost of all Hydra spells by four generic mana and turning any cheap targeted instant into an 8-damage fight trigger against opposing creatures. The deck leverages an array of one-mana protection and pump spells—such as Tamiyo's Safekeeping, Blossoming Defense, and Snakeskin Veil—to protect Gargos while systematically removing opposing commanders and key utility creatures at instant speed. Massive Hydras like Kalonian Hydra, Goldvein Hydra, and Voracious Hydra enter ahead of curve, quickly scaling with +1/+1 counters and trample to close the game in two combat steps. While vulnerable to mass exile sweepers and fast spell combo, the deck boasts exceptional resilience against targeted removal and creature-based strategies.
