Deck overview

This mono-black Aristocrats deck is led by Ayara, First of Locthwain, functioning as a consistent drain payoff and card draw engine from the command zone. The deck operates by deploying recursive creatures and token generators to sacrifice for continuous card advantage, life gain, and incremental life loss. Mid-game control is established through asymmetric edict effects such as Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos, which repeatedly clear opposing creature boards. The primary path to victory culminates on Turn 6, where the deck leverages high card draw volume to assemble a deterministic infinite drain loop using Gravecrawler, a sacrifice mana engine like Warren Soultrader or Phyrexian Altar, and Ayara, First of Locthwain or redundant drain creatures. Alternatively, Bolas's Citadel enables explosive storm turns. The list provides resilient creature control and dependable recovery, balanced by inherent mono-black vulnerabilities to artifact and graveyard hate.
