Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black big-mana control and reanimator strategy helmed by Valgavoth, Terror Eater. The game plan revolves around hitting consistent land drops and deploying artifact acceleration to reach high mana thresholds. In the early to mid-game, the deck uses efficient removal and asymmetric edicts such as Sheoldred's Edict and Soul Shatter to suppress opposing boards while building card advantage through Unholy Annex and Court of Ambition. On Turn 6, the deck aims to cast Valgavoth or cheat high-impact threats like Archon of Cruelty and Emrakul, the Exigent Doom. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield, its oppressive Ward ability and replacement exile turn every opposing casualty into castable spells paid with life. The deck closes out games around Turn 8 through flying commander combat damage, stolen opposing bombs, and massive life drains from Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Exsanguinate.
