Deck overview

This Golgari deck combines Spider tribal synergies with an aggressive poison and proliferate package, helmed by Shelob, Child of Ungoliant. Shelob provides immense defensive and offensive utility by granting all Spiders deathtouch and ward {2}, while converting opposing slain creatures into Food artifact tokens. The early game establishes mana development through ramp spells and deploys low-cost deathtouch bodies and toxic threats such as Venerated Rotpriest and Fynn, the Fangbearer. By Turn 5, Shelob hits the battlefield to fortify the board and make all combat exchanges heavily asymmetric. Critical onset occurs on Turn 6, where deathtouch combat triggers poison counters via Fynn or toxic attackers, rapidly multiplied by proliferate engines like Evolution Sage, Bloated Contaminator, and Vraska, Betrayal's Sting. Opponents face suffocating combat choices and an inevitable poison clock, eliminating the table around Turn 8 under the protection of efficient hexproof and indestructible spells.
