Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats combo deck is commanded by Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER. The strategy revolves around generating continuous value through death triggers, edict effects, and token generation before pivoting into a deterministic infinite drain combo. Sephiroth functions as an engine piece in the command zone: he draws cards on attack and drains opponents whenever other creatures die. Because his drain trigger targets an opponent, it commits a crime, creating a compact infinite loop with Forsaken Miner and a mana-producing sacrifice outlet like Phyrexian Altar or Warren Soultrader. Supported by efficient black tutors, fast mana rituals, and asymmetric board control from cards like Grave Pact and Tergrid, God of Fright, the deck exerts immense pressure on creature-centric boards. While resilient against creature combat and destruction, the deck remains vulnerable to stack interaction, artifact removal, and dedicated graveyard hate.
