Deck overview

This mono-black attrition deck focuses on resolving Tergrid, God of Fright and exploiting symmetrical sacrifice and discard spells to seize control of the game. By casting cards like Dark Deal, Awaken the Erstwhile, Plaguecrafter, and Rankle's Prank, the pilot forces every opponent to discard cards and sacrifice creatures. Tergrid intercepts all discarded permanent cards and sacrificed nontoken permanents, putting them directly onto your battlefield. This creates an immediate, overwhelming resource swing that strips opponents of their development while building a massive board presence under your control. The deck backs up this strategy with continuous attrition pieces such as Oppression, Bottomless Pit, and Grave Pact, denying opponents any ability to rebuild. Once opponents run out of resources, the deck finishes the game through combat damage with stolen creatures, mass drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or a decisive Torment of Hailfire powered by Cabal Coffers.
